Your Tesla Facing the Real Canadian Winter
Owning a Tesla in Canada means facing winter conditions that few countries experience. Here are our tried-and-tested tips from thousands of Canadian owners.
Winter Range Loss: What to Expect
| Temperature | Range Loss | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| 0°C to -10°C | 15-25% | 20 min preconditioning |
| -10°C to -20°C | 25-40% | Precond. + winter tires |
| -20°C to -30°C | 40-55% | Heated garage recommended |
| Below -30°C | 50-65% | Plugged in at least 8h |
The 10 Commandments of the Winter Tesla Owner
- Install winter tires (mandatory in Quebec, strongly recommended everywhere)
- Enable scheduled preheating 30 min before departing
- Keep battery between 30% and 80% in winter
- Plug in every night when possible
- Use Camp Mode for extended waits
- Use Seat Heater instead of cabin heating
